Wednesday is a Licensed Conveyancer in our conveyancing department where she supports clients who are in the process of buying or selling their homes. She also acts for clients in remortgages and transfers of equity.
Wednesday’s Story
Wednesday started her career as a legal secretary at a Family Law firm, working for two Directors and a Trainee Solicitor.
When their Conveyancer retired, she decided to become a Conveyancer herself and completed the Council for Licensed Conveyancers course by distance learning. She qualified in 2011 and since then has been working in Conveyancing and Private Client for large and small law firms.
The best bits of the job
Wednesday loves Conveyancing – every sale or purchase is different and each is a different a story; with dramas, interesting characters and sudden plot twists. Her favourite part is the feeling she gets when clients can pick up the keys to their new home – it’s like being a Fairy Godmother, only with a phone instead of a magic wand!
She lives outside Carlisle and works from home on a permanent basis; it suits her and she enjoys the quiet, which allows her to concentrate. But help is never too far away, and Wednesday knows she can pick up the phone and speak to the lovely staff based in the Carlisle office any time. She also loves visiting the WMB offices where everyone is really friendly and helpful and there’s always cake not too far away!
At play
When she’s not working, Wednesday enjoys walking, cycling, swimming and is currently in a love/hate relationship with the rowing machine in the gym. She also likes to listen to audiobooks, while cross-stitching or painting.
She also translates and delivers pantomimes and musicals in British Sign Language for her local amateur dramatics groups; which means Deaf audiences can enjoy a local performance without paying London prices for a theatre ticket.
